Take action today to protect California's wildlife, water, and land

A message from CA Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins. 

Last week, the Trump Administration announced plans to severely weaken the Endangered Species Act – the law credited with saving the bald eagle and countless other plants and animals from extinction. The hits from D.C. just keep coming – this is only the latest of the more than 80 environmental rules being rolled back by the current administration. 

That’s why I authored Senate Bill 1, to ensure Californians don’t lose critical environmental, public health, and labor protections that we’ve relied on for decades.

As the Leader of the Senate, I am focused on protecting our communities and natural resources from these harmful federal rollbacks. Senate Bill 1 puts in place critical protections to our clean water, clean air, workers’ rights, and endangered species to preserve our laws in California, regardless of what the federal government does.

With three weeks left in California’s legislative session, we need your help to get Senate Bill 1 across the finish line.

Today, I'm calling on you to urge your local state senator and assemblymember to support Senate Bill 1 and preserve California's wildlife, land, and water from further destruction.

This is the best shot we have at stopping these harmful rollbacks in our state. With more than 1 million species around the world facing extinction, we can’t afford to lose these common-sense protections.

Members of the California League of Conservation Voters -- like you -- have always been on the frontlines of passing landmark environmental policies in Sacramento, which is why I’m asking for your support today.

California must go on the offense and proactively protect our future.
